Tools are a group for trigger operated devices that don't fire ranged projectiles. Mining, construction, scanning-- basically, if it isn't a gun or a bomb (or a shield), it's a Tool.

It should be noted that Diggers are designed for mining, some bunker breaching, but are frequently repurposed for melee-range combat. Some Tools play more esoteric villains, but most lead peaceful lives of exploration, utility, and mild accessory to murder.

Diggers are just as effective as weapons.

Diggers

Each digger has a respective weight: the Light, Medium, and Heavy digger. The heavier the digger, the more powerful it is.

Light Digger

The Light Digger

The Light Digger is, as its name suggests, is the lightest of the Diggers. It somewhat resembles a handgun or pistol with a slightly extended barrel. It can dig through dirt, inner walls and flesh at an average rate, similar to a DustBuster. You can hold the Light Digger and your Jet power is relatively unaffected. Some enemies spawn with the light digger.

Medium Digger

The Medium Digger

The Medium Digger is the average tool. It can dig through most materials, yet is not too heavy. It looks more like a submachine gun than a digger, but don't be fooled, the Medium Digger can pack a punch in its short range. Some enemies, especially dummies, spawn with the Medium Digger.

Heavy Digger

The Heavy Digger

The Heavy Digger is the biggest of the Diggers. Being the most powerful digger, it can dig through anything you throw at it, including enemies flung at high speeds and the Impenetrable Bunker wall. Although it is heavy, it is worth every ounce. Some enemies spawn with the Heavy Digger, but rarely. The Heavy Digger is so powerful that lighter actors will be unable to move or jetpack in the direction they are digging in. A bonus for these light actors, however, is that the Heavy Digger can act as a parachute when falling.

Turbo Digger

The Turbo Digger

  • Price: 80
  • Tech: Dummy
  • Damage: Very High

The Turbo Digger is another very powerful digger, it is about the same strength as the heavy digger but it has a much smaller amount of energy. It can also fairly easily penetrate the bunker wall.

Pulse Digger

The Pulse Digger

The pulse digger isn't your standard digger, it digs in bursts like the shovel and has a small energy capacity. Although this digger can eat up dirt very fast, it can't get past concrete or metal, so it probably wouldn't be the best choice for an infiltration mission. It can also be used to pull a light actor forward or through the air.

Chainsaw

  • Price: 15
  • Tech: Ronin
  • Damage: Medium

Normally intended for cutting lumber, this tool has been repurposed to be used on light metal, flesh, and whatever else that needs to be violently dismantled.

Shovel

The Shovel

  • Price: 5
  • Tech: Ronin
  • Damage: Very Low

The Shovel is the weakest of all the diggers. It is similar to the pulse digger in that it digs in bursts. It is weaker than the light digger and is really only useful if you're super low on money.

Sprayers

Sprayers spray out a stream of a certain material, they are considered the opposite of diggers.

Concrete Gun

The Concrete Gun

The concrete gun sprays out a stream of concrete in a short arc. It is almost the exact same thing as the Concrete Sprayer, except that it have a shorter range and a different sprite.

Remote Explosives

There are no longer multiple colors of C4; they are automatically identified with the team that set them. There are also disarmers for any remote explosive, effective within a limited radius.

Detonator

The Green Detonator

Detonates all Remote Explosives that have been placed by your team.

Disarmer

The Disarmer will disarm remote explosives.

Scanners

Cut through the fog-of-war in a wide angle and limited distance wherever you point the scanner. Works similar to an ultrasound wand, except for finding impregnable fortresses.

Light Scanner

Lightest in the scanner family. Cheapest of them all and can only scan a small area.

Medium Scanner

Medium scanner. This scanner is stronger and can reveal a larger area.

Heavy Scanner

Strongest scanner out of the three. Can reveal a large area.

Other Tools

These tools are the more unique offerings and don't fit into other categories.

Repeller Gun

The Repeller Gun

The Repeller Gun does just like what the name suggests; it repels things. This handy little tool can be used to push back thrown grenades or to launch an enemy into the air. Be careful though, if you aim downwards while shooting it you will be lifted into the air and you can then steer by aiming it in the proper direction. Since the energy capacity is so large on it, this can be a very efficient way of getting around.

Grapple Gun

"Use this to climb walls and descend dangerous drops! Climb up by holding the crouch key, and then holding up/down or scrolling up/down."
Bionic Commando for Cortex Command. Useful for characters too heavy to fly with ease or lacking jetpacks. Has limited range, but grapple remains in effect when switching to another device.

Shielder
The Shielder

  • Price: 50
  • Tech: Dummy

Removed in Build 27. Data files still present.
The Shielder creates a tall, thin, rectangular wall that cannot be destroyed. Unfortunately, these shields disappear after a few seconds, so you'll want to make as much out of them as you can before it goes away. It's useful if you need to protect the brain from invaders or if you want to make a getaway out of the enemy's base and don't want to be shot from behind.
