With a large number of crabs bought on the craft, its mass would be high enough to "gib" the craft on impact, releasing all the crabs at once (scuttling mid-air would do the same). If the number of crabs is enough to go past the limit on MOIDs (Movable Objects with GetsHitByMOs = 1, like guns or actors, including their attachables as separate MOIDs), older MOIDs will be gibbed to maintain the limit of 256, regardless of their type, team, position, etc.

The "Look, sir, free crabs!" pricing special was ended as of Build 27, along with crabs being for sale at all. This can be changed in Wildlife.ini by setting Buyable = 1. But that's cheating. You probably shouldn't care though.

Crab Bomb is a term generated on Data Realms' Fan Forum for crafts (generally Drop Crates) filled with crabs (which were used because they were free, limiting the cost to the craft used).
