"The cheap robotic body used by the orange dummies is often used for training exercises and testing. Originally the dummies were controlled by a cheap neurotube CPU. AI programs are still not very sophisticated, but sometimes the random (and nonreplicable) qualities of the neurotube technology leads to the unexpected emergence of somewhat intelligent CPUs. This is what happened to the CPU controlling the orange dummies during a training mission. In an attempt to preserve itself, the CPU used the research facilities aboard a TradeStar to develop a defense against its antagonists. This bought it enough time to replace itself with a decoy and escape.
The official stance of various governing corporation is to respect all forms of sentient intelligent life (as many types of it has been found throughout the galaxy). The Dummy CPU is technically free to commerce just like everyone else, but the rarity of its existence has made it sought after on the black markets.
Gameplay: Dummies are not made for warfare, but sometimes their unorthodox weapon designs can offer a surprise or two." [1]
Note: "CPU" used for “computer” much like calling a “car” a “motor”.

Dummies are all-around one of the more unusual groups. They have cut-rate light infantry backed by one of the few "tanks" in game and a capable turret. Dummy forces have the only Tech-specific aircraft. They are also unique in fielding energy weapons, which seem primarily to be ionic with one compact rail gun, but no lasers. The seemingly improvised "hot nail" weapons hint at their industrial heritage and desperate determination to survive. Their grenades are unconventional too, not relying on fragmentation or even napalm for offense; theirs is nearly the only area-denial weapon in the game.

The Dummy army features prominently in three official missions, as well as in game promotional material. In this they are second only to the Coalition for being the "face" of Cortex Command. But they seem to trump the Coalition in receiving positive attention from the modding community.

Once these were used by brains as back ups and to expand their control over an area.

Dummy

Dummy

A light, cheap, and reliable unit but has a bad habit of having its limbs removed. The joint weakness isn't that notable because no matter how many limbs you hack off a dummy will not die. Target the head or torso to stop them. They do not bleed like humans and are very resistant to impact damage. due to them being made almost entirely out of plastic, they are very weak to bullets.

Dummy Dreadnought

The Dummy Dreadnought is literally a walking dreadnought, as it has the strongest protection of all Dummy units. It is protected layers by layers of protective casing, and can even sustain more gunfire than the Browncoat Heavy! Sadly, like every other heavy unit, it is very slow. It also can not use jets.

Dummy Small Turret

Dummy Small Turret

It may be small and unable to move, but it's generally mowing you down by time you knock its armor off with a standard weapon.

Dummy Drop Ship

Dummy Drop Ship

An orange drop ship used by the Dummy faction. It has much less of its engines exposed, so it's less likely to lose one. Its doors can be destroyed by gunfire. It's also a bit cheaper, and harder to control than a Dropship Mk1.
Tip: if trying to shoot one down, aim for the grey bits of the engine, as the orange bits are armour and are very strong.

Dummy Rocklet

Dummy Rocket

A small orange rocklet low capacity for cargo. It's harder to control than a full size rocket and easier to shoot down, but it's cheaper. Strangely the computer does not use this rocket in skirmish fights, even in the missions featuring exclusively dummy faction materials. Like all rockets, it makes an excellent projectile when crashed in to a target, especially when filled with bombs or a large amount of crabs.
